Fet amb love

‘Fet amb love’ (Catalan for ‘made with love’) is the motto of Hotel Restaurant Aiguaclara in Begur. As we are still in the process of getting to know the area I found this poster

Vinyls Night

stuck to a window in Begur and we decided to give it a go. It was great, a special place, so tastefully decorated in a kind of shabby chic way, the ambiance is cozy, the food was delicious and we enjoyed listening to the ‘Vinyl’.

There is also space to dance on the golden oldies. Friday is ‘Vinyl’ night and it is a great way to start the weekend.

La Macanita

Catch them young, as the saying goes. La Macanita, her real name is Tomasa Guerrero Carrasco born in 1969 in the lovely town of Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia, was only four years old when she appeared singing and dancing in a well known spanish tv flamenco show. She was destined to become the great flamenco star she is now. Her voice has such power and is so pure, it always gives me the ‘escalofrios’ (goosebumps).

One of photographer Juan Carlos Toro‘s dreams was to cover the walls of antique buildings of the city of Jerez de La Frontera with photo’s of great flamenco stars. La Macanita was covered on the walls of the antique Tabanco El Duque.

Spanish guitar

Last summer in the little church of Pals we were blown away by a guitar concert from Duo del Mar. The combination of these two beautiful ladies, Marta Robles and Ekaterina Záytseva, playing the guitar in the wonderful serene church was an unforgettable experience.

Marta Robles is also part of the band Las Migas who are releasing their new single ‘Calma’ in November. Enjoy…

Jazz in Palafrugell

Yesterday I bought tickets for Jazz & Rouge on 8th October, part of the 22nd Festival de Jazz Costa Brava. Music and gastronomy, now that is a fantastic combination. Saphie Well & The Swing Cats, Restaurant El Cantir by Pere Malagelada and wines from the Celler Hugas de Battle. Also participating are the enologue Eduard Hugas de Battle and artist Javier Garces. It will be a night to remember.
